Description |
Emerging from clusters of black and white dots of various densities, Materials Park, the World Headquarters of the American Society for Metals (ASM), takes shape. Situated on 45 acres of property in Russel Township, Ohio, Materials Park (formerly Metals Park) was built in 1959 after a design by Cleveland architect, John Terence Kelly. Kelly used the idea of the geodesic dome popularized by R. Buckminster Fuller in his design. The dome, known as the Space Lattice, rises 103 feet over the semi-circular office building and the William Hunt Eisenman Mineral Garden. The Garden, named after ASM's National Secretary from 1918 to 1958, features over 75 different minerals and over 70 different botanical species. |
