Description |
Caption: "The two hundred overseas conferees gathered at Sunnimoor that day had just come in from two weeks of study tours in a number of important industrial cities and yet had some three weeks more of study tours to follow. So it seemed nothing more than proper that on their day "off" they should do a study tour. And so they did "A Study Tour of Sunnimoor Farm." The farmers up and down the road-all anxious to do their bit in the entertainment field-came with their tractors and hay wagons (large flat beds) and lined up back to the barn and called for passengers to make the tour. The wagons were loaded in a jiffy and the adventures in Sunnimoor land began." On September 29, 1951, William H. Eisenman and his wife, Mill, hosted conferees of the first World Metallurgical Congress to a re-enactment of early Native American events on Sunnimoor Farm. Sunnimoor Farm was William Eisenman's summer home located on his property in Novelty, Ohio. In 1958, ASM bought 400 acres of Eisenman's property, including that which housed Sunnimoor Farm, as a possible sight for their new headquarters, Materials Park. Materials Park now resides on 45 acres of land. The remaining acreage was sold to the Geauga Park District. |
