Editorial cartoon by Ray Osrin of two scripts, one for Ronald Reagan and one for Jimmy Carter. The one on the left reads "Ronald Reagan Script: This is the story of a New Deal Democrat, an actor yet, who becomes a conservative Republican and Governor of California, then his party's nominee for Presidents of the United States whose platform promises increased spending for defense and tax cuts." Handwritten under that is "Sorry! Rejected for unbelievability. --The Editor" The one on the left reads "Jimmy Carter Script" The story of a boy from a small southern town in Georgia who grows up to be President of the United States and from then on can't seem to do anything right. Undaunted, he again seeks the Presidency in spite of a popularity rating so low that even his own brother won't vote for him." Under that script is handwritten "Now, really! The editor." The cartoon is signed and dated in the lower right corner "Osrin The Plain Dealer 8/3." |
