Description |
"When man bites dog it's news and when a movie star asks for an autograph it's even better news. That's exactly what Bob Hope, famed radio and screen comedian, did when he received a caricature of himself drawn by Pvt. Paul S. Snyder, (right) son of Mr. and Mrs. M.H. Snyder, 2774 Euclid Heights Blvd., Cleveland Heights, Ohio, when Hope, Frances Langford and Jerry Colonna put on a show at Keesler Field, Miss., the nation's greatest Army Air Forces Technical School. Hope, who was born in Cleveland, promised Private Snyder that he would put the autographed caricature in his study. Private Snyder is staff artist of the Keesler Field Public Relations Office. He is the creator of "Hubert" pudgy air mechanic whose antics are a feature of the weekly Keesler Field News. He also does editorial cartoons and at present is drawing a book of cartoons and a set of humorous post cards on life at Keesler Field. Private Snyder attended the Art Institute of Chicago, Ill., and the Art Center School, Los Angeles, Calif. When he entered the Army on February 12, he was an illustrator for the Kent Studios, New York City." -- photo verso. |
