"Hope at Five - Hollywood, Calif: The Bob Hope story starts in England, where he was born, the fifth of a stonemason's seven sons, in Eltham, Kent, in 1903. 'When I was four,' he says, 'We moved to Bristol and one day I was looking out of the window of our house and I saw some kids chasing out dog. I ran out and challenged them and got hit in the head with a rock. -- I've been a little funny ever since.' Hope is shown here in a November, 1961 filer at the age of five." -- photo verso. |
