Description |
"Cleveland, Ohio Public Auditorium -- In this huge Auditorium, containing over 250,000 square feet of floor space, with scores of smaller halls, conference rooms, and other areas suited to convention operations, the 31st National Metal Congress and Exposition will stage the annual 'Metal Show' during the week of October 17-21, 1949. The main structure was completed and opened in 1922. Improvements and additions were made in 1927, at a final over-all cost of over $10,000,000. The Cleveland Public Auditorium was the first of such structures to be built in the United States and the success of the venture set the pattern for scores of other Public Auditoriums in other leading cities from coast to coast. This majestic building has greatly influenced the acceptance of Cleveland as the country's No. 1 Convention City. It has been the scene of the famous 'Metal Show' on seven previous occasions -1925, 1929, 1936, 1940, 1942, 1944 and 1946" -- photo verso. |
