"Diabetic ball to produce 1000 tons of scrap. Cleveland--A huge steel ball, part of a million dollar sanitarium for treatment of diabetes under pressure, is being dismantled here to produce 1000 tons of scrap steel. Built in 1928, it contained 40 rooms, an elevator, ballroom, dining room and promenade floor. Above photo shows the sphere as dismantling was started" -- photo verso. Cunningham Sanitarium was located at 18485 Lakeshore Blvd. in Cleveland, Ohio. |
