Chief Deputy Coroner Lester Adelson sits before he testifies at the Sam Sheppard murder trial. In court, he described Marilyn Sheppard's autopsy and showed gruesome pictures of the crime scene and her face. Defense attorney Will Corrigan was able to get Adelson to admit that he didn't check the content of her stomach and that he did not check to see if she had been raped. According to the book "Mockery of Justice: the True Story of the Sam Sheppard Case" he made a huge blunder when having forensic photos taken. He washed off the wounds so he would see them better in the photos. He did not test for foreign particles that may have been part of the murder weapon.
