| Description | Copy of black-and-white photograph of Dean Dairy, ca. 1900. Photos shows house along with several members of the Dean family--three adults and five children. This large Queen Anne house has much Eastlake and Shingle style detailing at the porch and in upper gables and dormers. Landscaping seems small, indicating it may have been planted relatively recently. Horse and buggies, and barns are visible in background.
Black-and-white photograph of O.A. Dean Dairy Co. as it existed at 3151 Mayfield Road, according to granddaughter Betty Dean Calhoun. It was later moved to 3211 Mayfield Road (see 2002.004.001). After being moved to 3211 Mayfield Road, it was later demolished for O.A. Dean to construct a modern dairy building. Photo shows Queen Anne house (painted a light color with dark trim) along with several outbuildings. Home and barn are shown on 1898 and 1914 plat maps at 3151 Mayfield Road; by 1920, the house had been moved to 3211 Mayfield Road and Montefiore Home (a nursing home) had been built on the former site at 3151 Mayfield Road. Montefiore was demolished in the late 1990s to make way for Homewood at Rockefeller Gardens, an assisted living facility. |
