The flames set fire to many near-by homes and civilians were evacuated in a half-mile area. Death list of 11 is expected to mount, and more than 200 are injured."--photo verso.
The East Ohio Gas Company explosion, one of worst disasters in Cleveland history, occurred on Friday, October 20, 1944 when a a tank of natural gas exploded on Cleveland's east side, destroying homes and businesses and killing 130 people.
