DescriptionLarge sculpture: "Nataraja, Lord of the Dance" copper, 11th century A.D. The work is approximately 3 feet, 8 inches tall and was part of the J. H. Wade Collection. The work at right is indentified as "Somaskanda Murti: Shiva & Parvati with child Shanda" and dates to the 12th or 13th century A. D. This South Indian sculpture, done in bronze, was lent to the museum by George Bickford.
