Tiant struck out 19 batters in a 10-inning game against the Minnesota Twins on July 3, 1968, at Cleveland Municipal Stadium. Tiant pitched all 10 innings, allowing six hits and no walks, and struck out the last two hitters he faced. The Indians won the game 1-0 on an RBI single by catcher Joe Azcue in the bottom of the tenth inning.
