| Title | Detroit - Superior High Level Bridge, subway signs pointing to W. 9th and W. 11th |
| Creator | Thomas, James
|
| Description | "Detroit-Superior High Level Bridge"--photo verso. Shows signs that point to "W. 9th St." and "W. 11th St.". There is also a sign that reads "TO STREET". This appears to be the lower deck of the bridge. When it was built in 1917, the bridge was the largest double-deck, reinforced concrete structure in the world. The lower deck, which is no longer used, has room for six streetcar tracks with approaches with enough room for four subway tracks. Streetcar operations ended in 1954. |
