DescriptionShows the remnants of the South Rocky River Bridge in 1935. It was being demolished so that it could be replaced with the current day Lorain Road Bridge. The original Lorain Road Bridge, known as the South Rocky River Bridge, was built in 1897 on the site where the present bridge spans the Rocky River Valley. It was a steel trestle viaduct, 1219 feet long, with nine spans on metal towers. Its 32 feet wide deck was 130 feet above the river.
