| Description | Rip Off the Campaign Signs and It Might Fall Down. This little architectural gem shouldn't be overlooked by people who are concerned with Greater Cleveland's cultural contributions. It stands on the southeast corner of Detroit and Clague Roads in Westlake for all to see and appreciate. If you live on the East Side and have missed this, maybe you'd like to make a Sunday afternoon excursion out that way. Of course, you should be warned that the rest of the countryside doesn't match up. It is dotted with neat houses and lush orchards and fields. This place was built many years ago for a filling station. But for a long time its sole purpose has been to provide display space. It would be hard to say how many political campaign signs have embellished the structure. You can still make out a few from the election that took place seven months ago. There always has been a lot of competition for pace on it, but no competition at all to see who would take his signs down afterwards -- photo verso. |
