The opening of Westlake's new swimming pool and children's pool on June 17, 1967 was well received by hundreds of youngsters and adults in the suburb. Although no count was made, there was a gratifying turnout, according to pool officials. The two pools were built through efforts of Westlake Swimming Pool, Inc., a citizens group formed to promote construction of the pool.
