McBride was an advocate for women's rights and suffrage for women and served in offices for local, state, and national organizations. She was founder of the Cleveland Woman Suffrage Party and the Ohio Woman Suffrage Association. She was the president of the League of Women Voters of Cleveland and was also involved in getting Cleveland's first birth control clinic, the Maternal Health Association (later Planned Parenthood).
