AccomplishmentsBernice Pyke was the first woman to be elected delegate for a national political convention and the first woman to serve in a cabinet for a mayor of Cleveland. She was a delegate for 5 Democratic National Conventions and in 1934 President Franklin Roosevelt appointed her collector of customs for Cleveland.
